Rikku is a rescue Dog who is now about 10 pounds heavier than in this picture. She is a great Dog. Although she is half Golden Retriever, she will not retrieve anything. She is all Bassett in personality (minus the drule).

Guess Which Half if Bassett
Is she a Golden/Bassett or a Bassett/Retriever, or maybe a Retriever/Hound?

This is Gigi, our newest Greyhound. We adopted her in August 2005, she is 3 1/2 years old, retired racer. She is perky, and silly. Gigi, stands for "goofy girl". Her favorite thing to do is sleep on her back.
Here are a few recommended Greyhound books. I personally recommend the one on the left by Cynthia A. Branigan
Our first Greyhound "Lori" (Died Summer 2000) Tens of Thousands of Greyhounds are put-down every year simply because they wern't fast enough. These animals make great pets and are affectionately called "the 45 MPH couch potato". They are very Cat-like in their personality, they love a soft place to lay down, don't bark, are clean, shed a little, great with kids, great with other dogs, sometimes not good with small animals like cats. To learn more about this great breed of dog go to: greyhounds unlimited.
Toby the Dalmatian (Died March 2002)
Although I loved Toby very much, I would discourage anyone from getting a Dalmatian that hasn't thoroughly researched the breed. They are extremely active, and can be destructive if left alone. My philosophy when getting a pet is that it is for life, so I stuck with it, and Toby ended up being a great dog for our family--If we look past the shedding, and the dollars lost in things he damaged. It was a sad day when he passed away, suddenly, of an unknown cause (probably heart failure). We have comfort in knowing that he did not suffer from a long illness.
Midi (Died July 2005)
Midi was lost to Cancer July 18, 2005
Midi was our second Greyhound and he will be missed He was scared of thunder and loud noises. But I could run the vacuum right up to his nose and he wouldn't move. He was like most Greyhounds, he liked to sleep and run. Out of nowhere he would just take off around the yard a couple of times, and then he was done. For some reason he didn't like it when Roger was pulling the trailer behind his truck. He would never try to run after us pulling out of the driveway except when Roger was pulling the trailer, ("Must get that big monster following my Human!!!!") He was healthy right up until 3 days before he died from Spleen cancer.
