We have since moved from this house, which we lived in for 20 years.
We enjoyed "learning" how to do these many projects.
You can see our new house here
When we moved into our house, in 1984, there wasn't much landscaping or interest to the yard. And frankly for many years We didn't have the money or time to make any improvements. In the past few years that has changed. I hope you enjoy the before and after pictures.

First Roger removed the top layer of rotted railroad ties and the end pieces. Then he began to move each of the pavestones into place in front of the old RR ties and then up to the top. Then we backfilled with dirt. The whole project took 2 months, each pavestone weighs 85 lbs.
In the Summer of 2002, we decided to make a previously unused part of our side yard into a "secret garden". Before (on left) it was just an area of weeds and dirt, but it had a large Magnolia tree and lots of shade, and potential.
The picture of Me and Allen was taken in 1991, notice the tree and area behind us. The next picture is a view of the same area in 2002. Notice the size of the tree, & the garage behind the tree. In the picture of the pool below, you can see the entire tree in the background. This really became a special tree for us. It provided much shade in the Hot Texas summers, and increased the useable portion of our yard in during the heat of the day. Not to mention that it was a great climbing tree. The bottom picture is a little to the left of the others, showing the path and area we planted, in 1999.
this is how our pool and backyard looked when we moved out, The new owners have since put up a fence around the pool for safety
